Uma comparação entre o índice de vantagem comparativa de Bowen e o tradicional índice de vantagem comparativa revelada: o caso brasileiro

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to identify Brazilian industrial sectors with a comparative (dis)advantage. Thus, use calculated an index of comparative advantage recently proposed br Bowen which is based on production data. We also calculated a traditional index of revealed comparative advantage based on trade data and the results of both indexes are here compared. Such a comparison shows that, to a certain extent, both approaches give a similar picture, particularly when categories SITC 5 and 7 are excluded. However, a significant number of conflict-cases do appear in the relatively capital-intensive sectors. The differences cannot be easily explained and further research is needed.
