Substituição de derivados do petróleo no Brasil: questões urgentes

Abstract

The Brazilian energy policy after 1974 had as its center the substitution of imported oil by domestic energy sources, combined with conservation efforts. However, substitution had the largest share both in efforts and results. This work aims at analyzing the components of this strategy, reviewing the mechanism of the main oil substitution programs and identifying their impacts on the energy market, in order to evaluate the implications on these programs of the new situation, in particular the new perspectives for national production of oil and natural gas.
