Abstract

This article is a survey on recent research work on wages and inflation, where Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia and Costa Rica were chosen as sturdy cases. The paper develops a comparative analysis of the methodology, theory and formal models of wage and fire determination used in the study cases. At each point, common elements are underlined and contrasted with the main stream of the Anglo-Saxon literature. In conclusion, the Paper calls attention to the foundations and characteristics of a Latin American view on the working of the labor market and the inflationary process.
