Development and environmental impact: an analysis of Environmental Kuznets Curve

Abstract

In this study, it is structure a panel model to estimate the Environmental Kuznets Curve, noting the differences between countries in the CO2 emissions, as function of the social and economic developments. The relationship between GDP per capita and CO2 per capita emissions behaves according to the forecast of the Environmental Kuznets Curve as N. The results showed that GDP per capita is the explanatory variable with less impact on the emissions of CO2 per capita, and that the environmental impact grows mainly by development of the economies (economic and social developments and quality of life).
