Abstract

This article examines the determinants of the situations of studies and labor supply of young people and their changes over time. We have focused on the effects of income and parents’ employment status by examining the differential effects of these variables depending on whether they refer to the father or mother. Our results indicate that the mother’s income growth was more important compared to the father’s income, to explain the increase in the proportion of young people who are dedicated exclusively to studying the reduction of those who only participate in the labor market.
