The effects of the job training program bolsa futuro in employment and wage of workers

Abstract

This study evaluates the economic impacts of a training program ran by the state of Goiás, Bolsa Futuro, using methods based on differences-in-differences and propensity score weighting. The results of the estimates suggest that Bolsa Futuro increases participants’ formal occupation between 3.4 and 4.4 percentage points. On the other hand, the evidence indicates that the policy does not raise the average salary. The program has similar effect as Pronatec’s FIC course.
