Abstract

The main objective of this work is to provide a quantitative assessment of the possible results of policies to encourage technological development. Specifically, it is intended to analyze the macroeconomic and sectoral developments of the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2016-2022. Such evaluation was carried out through simulation with a computable general equilibrium model, Brazilian Intersectoral Model with Gross Domestic Expenditure on R&D (BIM-GERD), calibrated for Brazil for 2011. The main results indicate that the increase in the knowledge capital stock, acquired through stimulating innovation, produces positive long-term results on the Brazilian productive system, especially with the increase in the domination of the local market.
