Abstract

This paper evaluates the impacts of trade aggreements scenarios on the Brazilian economy, industries and families, considering the differences between rural and urban households and familiar and commercial farmers. We use a computable general equilibrium model whith the most recent GTAP data. The model is modified to account for different households in Brazil. We simulate multilateral, regional and multi-regional agreements. In general, the familiar agriculture gains with the agreements and the income differencial between rural and urban households decreases. However, we notice a tendency of income concentration in the rural, since the commercial farmers present higher gains, and the rural employees without land and education suffer losses.
