Abstract

The paper analyses the factors upon which Brazilian economy comparative advantages are based. The approach adopted was to examine the revealed comparative advantages (RCA). RCA indexes have been calculated for the Brazilian industry for 1980/88 and assessed its possible relationship with factor intensity and natural resources intensity. The paper concludes that natural resources intensity and microeconomic factors, like scale economies and product differentiation, are more important than, factor intensity.
