Abstract

This paper analyzes the Brazilian controversy on segmented labor markets considering workers with and without sign permits. First of alb the study examines the empirical evidences presented in the literature side by side with theoretical hypothesis in order to detect segmented labor markets. In addition, this interpretation emphasizes aspects related with the options of the firm in contracting workers with or without permits, stressing fiscal variables. Finally, this article argues that the segmentation pressumably verified might be independent of the Brazilian Labour Code.
