Abstract

This to describes the procedures adopted to estimate monthly and yearly series of price and quantity indexes for Brazilian exports in the 1974/88 period The emphasis is placed on discussing the choice of aggregation functions or formulas (Laspeyres, Fisher, etc.) and on the alternative forms to convert bilateral measures into multiperiod series. The selected series follow the Fisher formulae in the chain form for yearly indexes and in the mix form composed of direct and chain comparisons, for monthly estimates.
