Salário mínimo e taxa de salários: o caso brasileiro
Abstract
This paper analyzes the wage determination of the Brazilian unskilled workers using data from the National Inquiry by Household Sample (PNAD) for each Brazilian metropolitan region between 1976 and 1986. The effect of minimum wages policy and unemployment on the average and median wage rate is tested using a pooling of cross-sectional and time-series data. The regression results clearly confirm the significance of both independent variables for the formal sector. However, in most of the regressions the minimum wage elasticity is below unity. The results for the informal sector are not conclusive.Downloads
