Salário e produtividade na indústria brasileira: os efeitos da política salarial no longo prazo
Abstract
The article analyzes the shift of productivity gains to industrial wages in the Brazilian economy from 1964 to 1985. The analysis is based upon regression estimates of the elasticity of real wages in relation to labor productivity for nine major categories of workers in the manufacturing industries of São Paulo. Two periods are distinguished: the fast, before 1980, when wage differentials increased due to the smaller transfer of productivity gains to lower wages: second the early eighties, when due to redistributive wage policies, wage disparities decreased despite the recession that hit the country. The conclusion article concludes with a proposal of redistributive wage policies.Downloads
