Segmentação e mobilidade no mercado de trabalho: a carteira de trabalho em São Paulo
Abstract
The observed high inequality in the income ditribution is perhaps the most perverse characteristic of the brasilian economy , with the observed wage differentials as the factor most commonly cited as responsable. The long-run implications of these wage differential; will depend crucially upon the possibility of mobility among the different segments in the labor market. This study, measuring the level of mobility among wage earners with and without signed working cards, find little evidence of strong barriers to mobility, a well as some evidence that on the average the jobs which offer positions without a signed working card may have short duration. This is consistent with the interpretation that, in the long-run, the observed wage differentials among these wage earners may not have important adverse effects for their wellfare.Downloads
