Abstract
The article analyses the performance of the Brazilian Passenger car industry Burins the eighties, with emphasis on its response to the domestic market crisis. After a review of the industry's evolution in the seventies, the article focuses on the effects of the fall in the domestic demand on the market structure, as well as on the Process of product differentiation and on the price evolution and pricing behaviour. Finally, the article examines the significant increase in the motor vehicle manufacturers exports, which was in fact the main response of the industry to the crisis in the domestic market.Downloads
