Abstract

Amadeo has contributed to the theoretical discussion on growth and income distribution by using the degree of capacity utilization as an endogenous variable of the .system. The present work uses the same assumption, but adds an equation expressing the effect of investments on productive rapacity. Using this we reexamine Amadeo's conclusions; in particular, we notice that exogenous fixation of profit margins and endogeneity of the degree of utilization are not sufficient conditions fur the stagnationist thesis, and suggest a possible mechanism for a stagnationistic behaviour.
