Teacher bonification and school performance: an evaluation of “Escola de Valor” program in the state of Paraíba, Brazil

The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of the Value School bonus program of the Government of Paraíba State, 2016 edition, on some school indicators. The methods of Propensity Score Matching and Differences in Differences were applied on Saeb microdata and School Census for the years 2015 and 2017. The results of the estimates revealed a positive impact of the bonus on the score of students from award-winning schools, as well as on the pass rate and dropout rate of students. Furthermore, the statistical significance of the interaction dummies between the number of awards and time suggests that the program tends to have a positive and cumulative effect on school performance.Downloads
